Olympian Dana Vollmer to Highlight Pacific Masters Annual Meeting and Celebration

Celebrate another great year of personal fitness at the 2016 Pacific Masters Swimming Annual Meeting. Whether you are purely a fitness swimmer or someone who is motivated by the challenge of competition, the annual meeting and celebration is a great way to join with other swimmers for a day of learning, appreciation and joy. 2016 marks the 6th anniversary of our annual meeting since the expanded format was adopted and this year’s program may be our best yet!

The event takes place on Sunday, November 13 at the College of San Mateo. As in previous years, the day starts with an opportunity to participate in a coached workout. This year’s technique lecture will feature Dr. Rod Havriluk, the president of Swimming Technology Research. An internationally renowned expert on biomechanics as applied to aquatic sports, Dr. Havriluk’s talk is titled Swimming Science: Technique Misconceptions. A catered lunch will follow the lecture.

As in previous year’s the highlight of the day is likely to be the keynote talk, this year delivered by Dana Vollmer. Ms. Vollmer is a three time Olympian, winner of multiple gold medals and world record setter. Perhaps more important to our local Masters swimmers, Dana is a Bay Area resident, proud parent to a toddler (Arlen was born just 18 months before the 2016 Games!) and holder of 5 Pacific Masters records.

The day will conclude with the Pacific Masters business meeting. With no elections and no legislative items to consider, this year’s meeting will focus on an overview of the organizations operations and recognition of our volunteers.

You can register for any or all of the day’s activities here.
