USMS CONVENTION
BREASTSTROKE KICK IN BUTTERFLY
Barry Fasbender reported that the FINA Masters Technical Committee 
met in the beginning of November and voted to get rid of the FINA "no 
breaststroke" kick rule in the Butterfly  for Masters swimming. 
Swimmers MAY use the breaststroke or frog kick in the butterfly and 
have their times count for FINA records and top ten.

USMS OFFICERS
At 2001 Convention the House of Delegate voted to elect the following
	President - Jim Miller, Virginia LMSC
	Vice President - Scott Rabalais, Southern LMSC
	Secretary - Sally Dillon, Pacific Northwest LMSC
	Treasurer - Doug Church, Indiana LMSC

National officers are elected for a two year term. A national officer 
may be elected and re-elected once - they may serve a total of two 
terms. Nancy Ridout, Pacific's registrar, finished her second term as 
USMS President at the end of the convention then turned over the 
reigns to Jim Miller.

Joan Alexander of Walnut Creek Masters was voted to be the Oceana 
zone representative (Pacific and Hawaii's LMSCs make up Oceana zone). 
Joan is also the Pacific Masters secretary.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2003
The 2003 Short Course Yards National Championship will be held at the 
Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, May 16-19, 2003.

The 2003 Long Course Meters National Championship will be held at 
Rutgers University, New Jersey August 15-18, 2003.

OTHER LEGISLATION 18 YEAR OLDS
The House of Delegates voted to allow 18 year olds to become members 
of USMS effective immediately, however, they will not be able to 
compete until they meet the age qualifications in the competition 
section of the rule book.

UPCOMING EVENTS

PACIFIC MASTERS SWIMMING ANNUAL MEETING
The Pacific Masters September monthly meeting will be November 28 
7:00pm at the Danville community center. All members are welcome and 
each club is encouraged to send a member.

This annual meeting is the biennial election of officers. The 
nominating committee has nominated:
	Chairman:  			 Doug Huestis
	Vice Chairman - Administration : Rick Windes
	Vice Chairman - Operations  :    Barry Fasbender
   	Secretary:			 Joan Alexander
	Treasurer:  			 Clarine Anderson
	At-Large:			 Michael Moore

Each club may have one vote at the meeting.

LAST MEET OF THE 2001 - RENO WINNERS MEET
The Reno Winners meet is the last meet of 2001. The short course meet 
will be at the Northwest Pool in Reno on December 1st. For more

NEW YEAR - TIME TO RE-REGISTER
It is November, time to re-register for the 2002 Pacific Masters. The 
form to re-register is on the web at:

(if you use the web form, you can type in the information and print 
it out from your computer).

If you are changing clubs, with the annual re-registration you can 
change clubs and compete for your new club without waiting 60 days or 
paying the $2.00 to change clubs.

The newsletter has the 2001 schedule in it, a column from the coaches

THE WEB PAGE IS STARTING ITS SEVENTH YEAR
Today, November 18th, starts the seventh year of the Pacific Masters 
web page. From the beginning when the web site would have 100k of 
transfer a day to now when the average day is 34M bytes of transfer, 
the web site has sought to give information about Pacific Masters and 
adult swimming to the general public.

IF YOU HAVE MOVED
It is almost time again to put together the address list for the 
first issue of Swim Magazine for 2002. If you have moved and have not 
let the registrar know of your new address, please fill out the form

The January issue of Swim is normally the largest issue and filled 
with swimming information.
