FROM THE FILES OF COACH MIDNIGHT:
(Coach Midnight wrote this for the SCM Championships, it is a good
reminder for all the swimmers who will be attending the SCY
Championships this upcoming weekend:)
COACH MIDNIGHT
Details - Details - Details
--
For all of you going to the SC Meters Championships this coming
Friday (1500 Free) and Saturday, Sunday (all other events) here is a
probably not complete check list to make sure all is as it should be:
1) Have your 2001 PMS/USMS Reg card with you ? -- just in case.
2) Pack extra goggles, suit, water, etc ?
3) Low on gas ? Fill up the night before -- and that goes for your
own 'tank' -- good time to eat some extra 'carbo's' last few days
before meet.
4) Try to get a little extra sleep last few nights also -- dont go
'overboard' -- but an extra hour each night for last few nights can
make big difference.
5) Be sure to arrive early enough to have plenty of time for
'check-in' AND a good warmup!!
6) After each race be sure to get a proper warm-down/recovery swim --
very important if you are swimming multiple events each day.
7) Do some 'mental rehearsal' for each race -- "see" yourself
swimming as you want and expect to.
8) Have fun -- and remember: We are all in this together !!
Coach Midnight
Coach Midnight wanted to pass along this information for the coaches
and other interested parties:
Just for information, we were very happy to welcome you in:
IXth World Symposium
Biomechanics and Medicine in Swimming
21-23 June 2002, St-Etienne, France
This symposium is organized by Dr JC Chatard who worked with the
Australia swimming team before and during the Olympic Games in
Sydney, and by me. This is an international scientific demonstration
taking place every 4 years. The participants are medical doctors,
kinesitherapists, teachers, and researchers in physical and sporting
education, engineers, and biomechanics, 25% come from the Asian
countries (Japan especially), 25% of the USA, 25%
from Europe. A hundred people should represent France. The probable
number of participants is 350 (± 50 people), 200 communications are
registered from 40 countries ( Australia, South Africa, ...) . The
International Olympic Committee will be here. And Guenadi TOURESKY,
the
Popov's Coach, probably too. Private firm are welcome.
For more information visit their web site.

THE BERRYESSA SWIM THIS YEAR IN ON A TRIAL BASIS
The Bureau of Reclamation has insisted that Davis Aquatic Masters cut
down the vehicular impact. They are asking all participants to
carpool as much as possible. When you think of going to the Open
Water Swim at Berryessa, make plans to bring your swim teams mates.
Also cars have to be properly parked. There were many cars that were
towed because they were not parked properly. To keep the Lake
Berryessa swim we all have to pitch in to make it work.

PACIFIC MASTERS SHORT COURSE YARDS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2002 Pacific Masters Short Course Yards Championships will be
held in Santa Cruz, April 12-14, 2002. Come on down and cheer your
swim mates on:
http://www.pacificmasters.org/comp/02cruzscy.html
Joel Wilson wants swimmers to note:
1. that women's events are odd numbered and men's events are even
numbered (I think the on line meet sheet does say this).
2. that all relays are deck seeded. Relays are entered the day of
the meet at Pacific Masters Championships.

USMS SCY NATIONALS
The 2002 United States Masters Swimming Short Course Yards Nationals
are being held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, HI in May.
