UPCOMING MEETS
PINECREST LAKE OPEN WATER SWIM
Next weeks open water swim is the Pinecrest Open Water Swim. This is
the second year for Tuolomne County Masters putting on this event.
Pinecrest is about 30 miles east of Sonora at about 5500 feet. You
may register on the day of the event.

WHISKEYTOWN OPEN WATER SWIM
The 20th annual Whikeytown Lake Open water Swim will be on September
8th. Whiskeytown Lake is just west of Redding California and is the
northernmost sanctioned event in Pacific Masters Swimming, Pete
O'Neill be out of town for a week from 8/23 to 8/31, but swimmers
will still be able to contact the registrar Terri Misslin. If there
are any questions Swimmers may contact Pete O'Neill (530) 246-7340,
or Terri Misslin at (530) 221-5550. Pete said that this is the 50th
Anniversay of the Redding Swim Team.

FOLSOM LAKE SWIM
For those who want to swim on the Autumnal Equinox, the Rocklin
Aquatic Master's Folsom Lake Swim will be September 21st. This is the
second year of the swim after a few years hiatus.

PACIFIC MASTERS OFFICE CLOSED
The Pacific Masters Office will be closed from August 13th to August
21st while Nancy Ridout participates in the 2002 USMS Long Course
Championships in Cleveland, OH.
USMS LONG COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The USMS 2002 Long Course Championships are being concluded today
(Sunday). Results are posted on the UMS web site.

Congratulations to Margery Meyer who four National records (3 world),
Carolyn Boak one national record and Ed Cazalet who broke a national
record.

Lands End is a maker of fine sports apparel for the active person.

CHANGING CLUBS
You can change clubs at any time. If you change clubs at registration
time - there is no extra charge for changing club nor is there any
time between when you competed for your former club and when you can
compete for your new club.
If you change clubs after registration, you have to fill out a club
transfer form (there is a $2.00 fee). You cannot compete for a new
club within 60 days of competing for your old club, but you may
compete as "unattached." A swimmer may declare themselves
"unattached" (for competition) at any time even if they are still
registered with another club.
2003 CHAMPIONSHIPS
Marcia Benjamin, the scheduling chair, has sent out the 2003
Championship scheduling forms to all clubs. If you club is interested
in holding a Pacific Masters Championship - Short Course Yards, Short
Course Meters or Long Course Yards. Please be sure to fill out the
forms and return the forms to Marcia. If you want to hold a
championship and have not received a sets of forms, please contact

2002 USMS CONVENTION
The 2002 USMS Convention will be in Dallas, Texas next month.This is
where the business of the organization will be discussed and voted
on. Committee reports and legislation is available on line:

The committee reports tell what the organization is doing. There is
some legislation that will be considered. Your Pacific Masters
Committee will be sending over 20 delegates to the convention. If you
have any questions or comments about the organization, please let
your executive committee members know.
