UPCOMING MEETS:
ONE HOUR POSTAL
January is the month for the USMS Hour Postal Swim. For swimmers who 
would like to compete in the hour swim information may be found at:

The Hour Swim is a great opportunity to find out "where" you are 
swimming and what condition you are in, even if you just swim the 
event and dont compete.

DONT WASTE YOUR BASE
Tamalpias has its" Dont Waste Your Base" 1650 postal swim. If you 
competed in the Mile Swim, you can take your 1650 time to compete in 
this annual event.

FOG CITY MASTERS QUATRATHON
The annual Fog City Quatdrathon will be held February 2nd 2003.

  There will be race day registration ($30). (The Herbst Natatorium's 
pool length has been certified).

USF VALENTINES DAY AFFAIR
The USF Valentines Day Affair will be Saturday February 8th. This is 
meet is primarily 50's and 200's. The preentry deadline is January 
31st.

PMS INDOOR RELAYS.
The San Mateo Marlin Masters Pac Masters Indoor Relay will be Sunday 
February 23rd at the Oceana Pool in Pacifica, California. This meet 
is deck entry only. Now is the time to get your team together to plan 
to enter the meet.

WALNUT CREEK INTENSIVE TRAINING CAMP
There are just a few spots left for swimmers who wish to go to the 
Walnut Creek Intensive Traning Camp February 28-March 2nd. Coaches 
include Kerry O'Brien, Brian Stack and Jim Miller (from Virginia 
Masters).

RINCONADA MEET
The Rinconda meet (March 8th)  has been moved from Rinconada Swimming 
pool to the pool at Menlo Atherton High School.

COACHES HEALTH BENEFITS
At the Coaches Roundtable, an item that was discussed was how to be 
able to get health care benefits for coaches who are not covered by 
their club. Scott Williams (swilliams at olyclub.com) is interested in 
finding out if a group can be formed to Pacific Masters Coaches and 
if there is any insurance broker who would be interested in working 
with Scott to form a group. Contact Scott Williams

CLUB ROSTERS
For club reps who would like a copy of their clubs roster, please 
Nancy Ridout be happy to send you a copy of your roster this Thursday.

PACIFIC MASTERS OFFICE CLOSED FEBRUARY 1ST-6TH.
The Pacific Masters office will be closed February 1st through 
February 6th as Nancy travels to the Colorado Springs' Olympic 
Training Center to work with the Masters swimmers who will be 
training there.

SHORT COURSE NATIONALS IN TEMPE ARIZONA
Information about the USMS Short Course Nationals, to be held in 
Tempe Arizona is on the USMS web site. If you are thinking about 
going to the Short Course Nationals, you should check out the web 
site. You should be able to enter on-line starting February 1st.

INTERESTING DISTANCE EVENT
The is planned a marathon distance swim (about 8KM) in the western 
Solomon Islands to commemorate the 60th Aniversary of John Kennedy's 
swim after his boat PT 109 was sunk in the  in Blackett Strait near 
Ferguson Passage.

BECOME A MEET OFFICIAL
There will be clinics for new meet officials at the following places:
Clinic #1 - Walnut Creek
On Saturday, February 1, 2003, an Officials Clinic will be held at 
the Heather Farms Community Center in Walnut Creek.  Registration 
starts at 8:00 a.m. and the clinic will start at 8:30 a.m.  The 
emphasis for this clinic will be the certification/re-certification 
for the S&T, starters, and referees.  To expedite the meeting please 
download copies of the tests from the Pacific Officials Page.  For 
first time officials, you can also download the rulebook from our 
officials page -- you will need it to take the open book 
certification test.

Clinic #2 - Turlock, California
     This clinic will take place on Saturday February 8, 2003.  The clinic
will be in Roger Young's new classroom at Pitman High School. The address
is 2525 W. Christoffersen Pkwy in Turlock.  If you need any further

Clinic #3 - Sonora, California
     This clinic will take place at Stuft Pizza on Thursday February 20,
2003.  It will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  This is in East Sonora 108 a
couple of miles from downtown.  I will get better directions soon and let

Clinic #4 - Redding, California
     This clinic will take place on Saturday March 15, 2003.  It will be held
at Shasta College and probably will start at 9:00 AM.  I will have more
