OPEN WATER EVENTS
The first two meets of the 2003 season are coming up:
	Spring Lake May 10th http://www.pacificmasters.org/comp/03rcmow.html
and
	Lake Berryessa June 7th http://www.pacificmasters.org/comp/03damow.html
The Spring Lake meet is a great meet that is not too long and if you
have never swam in an open water event, it will make a great first
open water swim. It is about a month away so if you have never swam
an open water swim before, practice then make it a goal to swim.

ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPETITION
To be eligible for competition, swimmers must be 19 years of age or
over on the last day of the meet for Short Course Yards. For Long
Course Meters and Short Course Meters, swimmers must be 19 years of
age or over on December 31 of the year of competition. See rules
102.1 and 102.2 on page 20 of the USMS Rule Book.

QUIRK IN THE LIST OF MEMBERS PROGRAM
There is a little quirk in the list of members program. The first two
numbers of a member name is 38 and they are not listed. So if you
number listed is 39-03GGE - it is really 3839-03GGE.

REGISTRAR IS AWAY FROM THE OFFICE
Nancy Ridout, Pacific Masters registrar, is away from her office and
will return on Tuesday.

have a good week

michael

Sometime I come across an article that peaks my interest. There was
one in the an AP article in SJ Mercury this week about General Mills.
In Lodi, the plant manager wanted to cut the time it took or make a
product change over. The food company sent a team to work with a
NASCAR Winston cup team, because "nobody can change over a car faster
than these guy can"

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/business/5398956.htm

The story is about "looking outside the box and trying to become more
efficient."
