The Lake Del Valle Open water swim will be on July 27th. Lake Del

IGLA CHAMPIONSHIPS DEADLINE IS TUESDAY
San Francisco Tsunami welcomes ALL swimmers (gay, straight,
in-between, undecided and confused) from around the Bay Area, around
the state and around the World to the IGLA Championships that will be
at Stanford University August 22 through the 24th. Much of the meet
will be pre-seeded and thus there is a very early meet entry deadline.

MORE SWIMMING SITUATION
RELAY SITUATIONS - OOOPS AN ERROR

I cut and pasted the relay situations, then read them AFTER I sent
out the newsletter. The following was incorrect

4. During the 200 yard medley relay, the breaststroke swimmer doesn't get
out of the pool before it is time for the freestyle swimmer to make the
final exchange with the butterfly swimmer. The team is disqualified because
the breaststroke swimmer didn't get out of the pool in time. Was this a
valid infraction?

4. Yes, 101.5.4 states, "The swimmer shall have finished the race when any part
of his/her person touches the wall after the prescribed distance." 101.6.3E
further states, "Each relay team member shall leave the water immediately
upon finishing his/her leg, except the last member."

The above is true for USA-Swimming. For US Masters, swimmers should
get out of the pool, but may hang on the lane line to wait for the
event to be over.

have a good week
