MEET RESULTS
PINECREST LAKE OPEN WATER
Theresults of the Pinecrest Open Water Swim have been posted on the 
web site. The Tuolumne County Aquatic Masters did a great job of 
hosting the meet.

PACIFIC MASTERS MONTHLY MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY
The regular monthly meeting of Pacific Masters will be Wednesday 
AUGUST 27th, 2003 7:30 PM It will be at the Oak Hill Park  Directions

This month will include decision on the 2004 Long Course Short 
Course, Short Course Yards and Short Course meter Championships as 
well as the Open Water Championship.

The committee will also consider the legislative and rules proposals 
that will be before the USMS Annual Convention. The entire convention

The committee will also be talking about a possible bid by USMS for 
the 2006 FINA Masters World Championships at the Stanford Avery Pool 
Complex. For USMS to make the bid, it would need the help of the 
local LMSC (us).

RESULTS OF THE IGLA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2003 IGLA were held at the Avery Pool Center on the Stanford 
Campus. Tsunami Masters worked for over two years to bring this event 
to the Bay area. While these are the International Gay Lesbian 
Aquatic Championships, any one could swim at the meet.

Seventeen World records were broken at very fast Berlardi pool . The 
number of records broken were led by Pacific Swimmers. Tod Spieker 
broke the 1500 Free (17:35.21), 200 back (2:21.80), 800 Free 
(9:13.15), 200 Fr (2:06.20), 400 Freestyle (4:28.73); Ed Cazalet 
broke the 1500 Free (19:40.62) 200 IM (2:35.95) and 400 IM (5:34.43); 
Rich Burns 200 Back (2:34.17), 100 Back (1:08.85) and 50 Back 
(31.65); and Laura Val broke her own 200 Free (2:14.66).

Fitzgibbon and Geoff Glaser for being the co-meet directors and the 
entire Tsunami team for putting on the meet

NEW MOUNTAIN VIEW MASTERS SHORT COURSE METERS MEET
This is the first year of the Mountain View Masters Short Course 
Meters meet. It will take place on Sunday September 7th. The 800 Free 
is limited to 64 pre-entered swimmers. All the other events may be 
deck entered. The pre-entry deadline is August 29th.

WHISKEYTOWN OPEN WATER SWIM
The Whiskeytown Open Water Swim sponsored by the Redding Swim Team 
will be on Sunday September 7th at Whiskeytown Lake. The preentry 
deadline is August 28th.

CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR 2004 / EARLY MEETS
Scheduling Chair Marcia Benjamin is putting together a schedule for 
next year. Her first task is to put together the Championship 
schedule - If your club is interested in hosting a Pacific Masters 
Championship (SCY, LCM, SCM or Open Water) you must apply by 
Wednesday August 20th. All Club Reps should have received a letter 
about the bid selection process, but if you have not, please be sure 
to contact Marcia at
msbenjamin at earthlink.net .(You will get a letter about the scheduling 
process and an application. (You are encourage to apply).

If you have a meet in January or February, It is best to get on the 
schedule soon, so your meet can be publicized in the NOV/DEC issue of 
Swim magazine.
