COACHES COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIPS FOR '04 CLINIC
The Pacific Masters Coaches Committee announces the annual Pacific 
Coaches Clinic Masters Coaches Scholarship program.  The Annual 
Pacific Coaches Clinic will be held at the Napa Marriott Hotel, on 
the Friday Jan 2, Saturday Jan 3, and Sunday Jan 4, 2004.  The 
Pacific Masters Coaches Committee will produce a Masters Coaching 
Track on Saturday afternoon.  The PMS Coaches will also offer a 
scholarship for one half the registration fee to any Masters Coach 
working with a registered PMS Team.  Send your request for 
scholarships to Pacific masters Coaches Co Chair Brian 
Stack(brianstack at sbcglobal.net).  Look for clinic schedule updates on 
the PMS e-mail updates.

WHISKEYTOWN OPEN WATER SWIM
The results of the Whiskeytown Open Water Swim are posted on the 
Pacific Masters web site. Thank to the Redding Masters and all the 
volunteers from Redding who put on the meet.

UPCOMING MEETS
SAN MATEO PENTATHLON
The San Mateo Marlin Masters will be Sunday, September 28th.  It is 
the 100 of all four events and the 200 IM.  Awards for 1st through 
6th place for swimming ALL the events.

SACRAMENTO MASTERS
TWENTY NINTH (OR THIRTYTH) ANNUAL SPRINT PENTATHLON
On Sunday October 12 is the Sac Masters 29th (or 30th) Annual Sprint 
Pentathlon. It is the 50 of the four strokes plus the 100 yd IM. pre 
entry deadline is Oct 3rd (or you can deck enter - 11:30 cut off the 
day of the meet).

PACIFIC MASTERS SHORT COURSE METERS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2003 Pacific Masters Swimming Short Course Championships will be 
held at the new Menlo Atherton High School Pool. The meet is being 
run by Rinconada Masters.

The meet is being held on three days, over two weekends. The  1500 
free will be September 27th and the other events will be on the 
weekend of October 4th and 5th. For swimmers who want to swim the 
1500, the 1500 is considered one of the seven events that you can 
swim at the meet. There is no 800 meter freestyle at this meet.

For teams that might consider entering a relay to get at top ten 
time, the short course meter relays are usually considered the 
softest of the three seasons.

PACIFIC MASTERS OPEN HOUSE
All clubs are invited to participate in an Open House at your pool on 
Saturday, October 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  Schedule a 
special training session, have a team party or just have bagels & 
juice available for visitors.  PMS will give you promotional 
materials like banners and posters to publicize the event. Coaches 
and club members agree to be at the pool during the Open House hours 
to showcase your Masters program. The goal of the Open House is to 
advertise that your Masters team is there, hopefully having fun, 
throughout the winter months.

(arranging a loan from the PMS library of training videos or

SYNCHRO
The Santa Clara Aquamaids will be having a show at the Santa Clara 
Swim Center this Friday and Saturday. The "Enchanted Lagoon" will 
feature members of the 2000 and 2004 Olympic team, the 2004 Olympic 
Duet, and a cast of 70 swimmers. For more information go to

HAWAIIAN MEET
For those who want to make the trip to our sister zone member, The 
Oahu Club is going to have Masters competitions this coming November
