PACIFIC MASTERS LONG COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Santa Cruz Masters organized the largest Pacific Masters Long Course
Championships this past weekend when the 2005 championships had 550
athletes competing at the UC Santa Cruz east fieldhouse. There were
11 national long course records broken and 8 world records.

Jim McConica of Ventura Masters drove up to Santa Cruz where in the
1500 meter he broke the 400M, the 800M and the 1500 M national and
world records (55-59); he also broke the 200 Fly and the 200 IM
record. Tamalpias broke the 200 Mixed Medley and the 400 Mixed
Freestyle records (200 M Medley Richard Burns, Ken Frost, Laura Val
and Nancy Ridout; 400 M Free Relay Richard Burns, Nancy Ridout, Laura
Val and Ed Cazalet), Karen Humphreys broke the 100 back (50-54);
Allison Wagner broke the 200 IM record (25-29).

The overall high point team medal was taken by USF Masters; second by
Menlo Masters; third Walnut Creek Masters.

Thanks to Joel Wilson, Pancho Wrangel and the Santa Cruz Masters for
putting on this very large meet. The meet was finally over at 7:30 pm
Sunday evening.

SANTA CRUZ OPEN WATER
The Santa Cruz open water swims will be on Saturday July 30 (Santa
Cruz Pier Swim), Sunday July 31 Pier to Pier and the Cruz Cruise.

USMS LONG COURSE NATIONALS - DEADLINE EXTENDED TILL WEDNESDAY 11:59:59 PM
The USMS Long Course National Championships will be at the Marguerite
Aquatics Center, Mission Viejo, California August 11-15. This is the
first time Long Course National Championships has come to California
in many years.

You can register on-line until Midnight 13 July. So far there had not
been a lot of people registering for the meet, so it would be a good
meet to compete then see parts of Orange County.

There will not be many people at the meet, this will be a good meet
with good swimming conditions. It is only a 6 hour drive from San
Francisco (as long as you dont do it on a Friday, arriving about
commute time).

DONNER LAKE OPEN WATER SWIM
The Donner Lake 2.7 mile Open Water swim will be Saturday, August 6th

FOLSOM LAKE SWIM CANCELLED
The Folsom Lake Swim scheduled for July 17th has been cancelled.

FOR SCSC ALUMNI
SCSC is planning a 55 Year Reunion & Tribute to George Haines next
summer, June 23-25, 2006.

Speakers include: Peter Daland, Mark Spitz, Don Schollander, Chris
von Saltza-Olmstead, Claudia Kolb Thomas and Donna de Varona, among

Commemorative Reunion Announcements, which will be mailed out soon,
and also to give us an idea about how many people to plan on! Space
will be limited.
