Water swim. Whiskeytown Lake is about 15 miles from Redding. The
pre-entry deadline is August 31.

To portray rescue swimmers in the United States Coast Guard

Boy...do we have a challenge here. We have been hired to cast the
upcoming Kevin Costner/Ashton Kutcher film entitled 'The Guardian'.
It will shoot in New Orleans beginning November 14, 2005 and film
through February 2006.

This film documents the intensive training process of US Coast Guard
rescue swimmers and their personal and physical sacrifices required
of the job.

Therefore, we need to cast swimmers (actors) to portray students of
the 'A' school for the Coast Guard Rescue School. The actors cast
for these roles will begin training at the Coast Guard Rescue
Swimmers training center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina in
September or October. These actors (swimmers) will be part of an
ensemble cast that will work throughout the production.

We will cast the remaining roles in the film in New Orleans later
this year. But for now.......we need to look for competitive
swimmers of any ethnicity who would be comfortable in challenging
ocean conditions (including athletes who compete in Water Polo,
Diving, Crew, Triathlons, or are certified life guards). This is an
opportunity for you to contact local swim clubs, universities (for
students who have just graduated), military bases, reservists, etc.,
to land a role for run of show. Obviously, we are looking initially
for actors who are very good swimmers. But if you so desire to go
outside your agency, we recommend that. This is a unique casting
challenge. These guys and gals are the toughest in the military.
Out of 75 in each class less than half graduate. They must be able
to handle crisis situations in the water and tread water for a long

Check out this web article about how hard the requirements are at:

The Mud Sharks set the world record in the Men's 200+ 200-meter
medley relay, breaking the Olympic Club's record from 1994. Philipp
Djang, Lee Rider, Bill Adkison, and Eric van Boer were on the relay.
I am sorry about overlooking their fine swim.

An email was sent out to the clubs earlier this month about
Championships for next year, a few came back so here is the
information if your club is interested in hosting a Pacific Masters
Championship for next year or hosting a sanctioned meet.
There were a couple of items that were passed at the June
meeting that may affect your considertion of a bid.
1. There will be a long course championships
2. The XI FINA World Masters Championships, which is hosted
by Pacific, will be August 4-11 (the swimming events).
3. The long course season for 2006, for meet re-imbursement
will start April 15. There may be may swimmers who would like to swim
a long course meet before the world championships entry deadline of
June 3rd. We hope that you consider holding a meters meet between
April 15 and June 3rd.
4. Your meet information sheet must be in a computer file,
either a pdf file or .doc (Microsoft Word file).
5. If you are running a pool meet you must use a meet
management program. Results must be produced in an sdif format and a
results format that can be put on the web. (You can rent a hy-Tek
swim management program for about $100 for a meet).

A few polo shirts for the upcoming XI FINA World Masters
Championships are available. They are gray cotton with the meet logo
and the championship name over the left breast. They are available in
mens XL, L, M and there is ONE small. The price is $34.00 and that

These are cool shirts and you can be the first on your block to
support the championships that are coming to the Bay Area next year.

Have a good week
