June 11 (Breast). Clinics are open to all swimmers. DAM coaches Rick
Powers and Ahelee Osborn and staff will run the clinics at the Civic
Pool in Davis, corner of B St. and 5th, from 1-2:30pm. Clinics will
also cover the turn of that stroke. Cost of each clinic for non-DAM
members is $10 pre-paid or $15 on clinic day. Contact Rick at

The Fresno LCM meet and the Burlingame Splash and Dash have been
taken off the schedule. I hope that they will come back next year.
There is a great interested by swimmers in swimming or practicing
long course. If there are any clubs that will have open practice
where swimmers can workout in a long course pool, write me at
mailto:michael at pacificmasters.org

I will post the information in the Update or on the web site.

After the Long course meet last weekend, I was talking to a swimmer
who for the first time swam a long course event. He said he did not
have any feeling for the length of the pool. He did not know where he
was and even though he always counts his strokes, he had no sense of
where he was or where he should be.

Working out in a long course pool will help swimmers for the long
course season and for the world championships.
The XI FINA World Masters Championships on-line Meet entry system is
now available. There is less than five weeks to on-line entry
deadline. You can now register for all the events online at

then click on the "OnLine Entries" button on the right side.

If you are worried about your times, until 3 June, you can go back on
line and change your meet entry time.

All the relays will be on Tuesday - the 200 Mixed Free Relay, 200
Mixed Free Relay, 200 Men's Medley relay, 200 Men's free relay, 200
Women's medley relay and 200 Women's free relay. The team leader can
enter a time and an event. The final names do not have to be entered
until Monday before the relay - so the coach/team leader can see who
is swimming at the meet, but all the swimmers have to had registered
for the meet.

We have made a couple of changes in the registration process, you do
NOT have to send two photos with your registration, if you a USMS
member, your membership will be checked when you register. When you
go to accredition, you must bring a government issued ID (eg
California Drivers license), your picture will then be taken and your
meet ID will be generated.

This is a great meet to compete against other swimmers, you will
compete against other swimmers of your age and swimming ability. If
you enter a good seed time, in your heat you will compete against
swimmers who will almost match your ability. This will be great
competitive conditions. And the social events will a great place to
meet swimmers from around the world.

If you want to stay at a hotel or motel in the Stanford area, now is
also the time to register for a room. You can sign up now, and your
credit card will not be charged until July. Most of the rooms in Palo
Alto have been booked, but there are plenty of rooms in Santa Clara
and San Mateo.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we hope that you will
participate at the first World Championships that is being held in
the western hemisphere in ten years. And we look forward to seeing
you at the Stanford Avery Aquatic Center in August.
