WORLDS
We are still working on totalling up the entries, so far there are
7,100 entries from over 75 countries. Over 5400 athletes will be
competing in swimming and 900 swimming will be competing in open
water. There are 75 water polo teams with 14 women's water polo teams
(at Riccione, there were only 2 women's teams). Of the 5400 athletes
in swimming, 1400 are from Pacific Masters.

Worlds will be the largest swim meet held in the United States. It is
also the largest Master's meet held in the United States. Stanford
will keep the record as the place of the largest meet as it will be
superseding the 1987 USMS Short Course Championships where 2328
swimmers competed.

OPENING CEREMONIES
The opening ceremonies will start at 7 PM on 3 August. This will be
the formal start of the XI FINA World Masters Championships. The
ceremonies will be at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center and will last
about 90 minutes.

HOTELS
For those who will be traveling to World championships there are
still a wide variety of hotels available. There are a couple of teams
that will rent a hotel room as so that their team members can rest
there instead of at the pool venue.

The LOC was able to secure good pricing from many hotels in the are
San Mateo, Santa Clara and Palo Alto areas. We have to sell the rooms
soon, or we have to give the hotel rooms back to the hotels. Go to
http://www.2006finamasters.org/
on the right side column click on Hotel Reservations.

If you want to phone your reservation, please call
1-800-826-4630 US or

PARKING
Parking will be available at Stanford, but it will be about a 250
yard walk from the parking lot to the swim center. There is no
overnight parking .
