If you're new to open water swimming, try the _
mile swim. For a good workout, do both. Nice
venue, plenty of parking. A good place to
bring your kids: they have a swimming area that
is roped off. Post event snacks provided.

LAKE BERRYESSA OPEN WATER
The Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim two and One
Mile Swims will be on Saturday June 7. This is
one of the biggest open water meets in the United
States. You can pre-register until 23 May.
http://www.lakeberryessaswims.org/
Biggest swim of the year. You will run into
people you know from your past swimming life.
Water temp is comfortable. Get there early or
you'll have a long walk from the parking lots.
Bring a chair because the grass is dead and full
of foxtails and there is nowhere to sit. Plan to
be there for a long time. You can pre-order a
lunchŠor bring your own food.

MILLERTON LAKE OPEN WATER
A new open water event, the Millerton Lake Open
Water Swim will be on 15 June. Millerton Lake is
just outside of Fresno and will be the site of
the 2009 One Mile Open Water National
championship.

Lake Mendocino 2 Mile Pacific Masters Championships
Since it's a championship swim, awards are given
to 5th place. A new venue but it will be put on
by the same people who host the Spring Lake and
Russian River swims. They tell us that the drive
is only 20 minutes longer than the drive to Lake
Sonoma. Likely to have post event food.
