PACIFIC MASTERS MISSION STATEMENT:
As adopted by the Pacific Masters Committee the Mission of Pacific Masters is:

Pacific Masters Swimming welcomes anyone who would like to gain and
maintain fitness through swimming and encourages programs to foster
this mission.

ONLINE REGISTRATION ON HOLD
The Club Assistant registration site has discontinued accepting new
registrations and renewals; no one can register until the problems
are resolved. The backup system did not work quite as intended

Swimmers wishing to register can send Nancy Ridout a paper form but
she have to wait to enter the data until the problems are
resolved. But once she has the form and a check she can confirm
they're considered officially rergistered even if we cannot issue you
a card.

JASON LEZAK CLINIC
The College of Marin Swimming and Diving Team along with the Marin
Pirates Swim Team are pleased to announce that Olympian and multiple
gold medal winner Jason Lezak is coming to Marin to conduct a one day
swim clinic. The clinic will be held on Sunday, April 5th from noon
to 4 p.m. at College of Marin?s Indian Valley Campus pool. Take part
in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Join Jason for in-water
demonstrations; plus, listen to him discuss experiences from his
swimming career. In-water space is limited to 160 swimmers. (There
are 40 slots left).

FINA REQUIREMENTS FOR SWIMWARE
FINA the international governing body has released its requirements
for swimwear. Today the Rules Committee of US Masters Swimming has
issued its official interpretation.

FINA approval or rejection of new swimwear introduced after September 30, 2007,
will be accepted by U.S. Masters Swimming for U.S.M.S. sanctioned and
recognized
competition.

The swimmer can only wear one swimsuit at a time during an a swim meet.

SCAM Spring Break Meet
The Strawberry Canyon Aquatic Masters Spring Break results have been
posted. Thanks to the Strawberry Canyon Aquatic Masters for putting
on the meet.
PACIFIC MASTERS SHORT COURSE YARDS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2009 Pacific Masters Short Course Yards Championships will be
held April 17-19 at the Dolores Bengston Aquatic Center in
Pleasanton. Swimmers can enter on line at:

PARKSIDE MILE
The Parkside Mile has moved to 25 April, same place, but had to
change the date. The Parkside Mile meet sheet has been posted.

SPRING LAKE MILE
The Spring Lake Mile has been moved to the 16th Of May. It is a week
earlier than what has been on the schedule.

2009 USMS ONE-MILE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The meet sheet for the US Masters Swimming One-Mile National
Championships has been posted. You must pre-enter the meet. the meet
deadline is 5 May. You are encourated to enter early as the meet is
limited to the first 1000 entries.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TEACHING ADULTS TO SWIM

US MASTERS SWIMMING 2009 SHORT COURSE MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2009 US Masters Swimming Short Course Masters National
Championships will be held at the Clovis North High School Pool,
Clovis, CA. The online entry system will automatically close at 11:59
p.m. Pacific time on April 9, 2009.

FINA REQUIREMENTS FOR SWIMWARE
FINA the international governing body has released its requirements
for swimwear. The main points are
The swimsuit shall not cover the neck and shall not extend
past the shoulders nor past the ankles.
All swimsuits of an approved model must be constructed in an
identical fashion with no variation/modification for individual
swimmers.
The swimmer can only wear one swimsuit

APPLICATION TO OFFICIATE AT THE US MASTERS SWIMMING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
An application to officiate at the US Masters Championships is at

An application is needed if you wish to work an assigned position
(deck ref, starter, chief judge). Officials can apply for their N2,
N3 certification.

SWIMFEST 09
US MASTERS SWIMMING will be sponsoring SwimFest 09 for coaches and
swimmers at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, TX (near Houston). For
coaches it will be a chance to work with some of the greatest coaches
in Masters Swimming: Kerry O'Brien, Kris Houchesn, Mike Collins and
Jim Montogmery. They will work with coaches on their coaching
technique and mentor The Masters coaches ill cover the business of
being a Masters Coach and other topics.

Swimmers will be able to improve their swimming and work on all four
strokes, starts and turns under the guidance of great coaches.

U.S. Masters Swimming will be awarding a limited number of coach
scholarships. If you are a Masters coach and need financial
assistance to attend, please contact Mel Goldstein, Director of Club
& Coach Services via email or by phone at 317-253-8289.

Coaches are free
Swimmers are $85.
