HAPPY THANKSGIVING
On behalf of the Pacific Masters Committee, we would like to wish you
the Happiest of Thanksgivings.

of swimming facilities and volunteers for our members. Whenever we
have needed people for a particular task there has been someone to
step up to do that task and I am very thankful for you. Again have a
Happy Thanksgiving.

If you are driving to family or friends homes, please drive safely.

16th Annual Reno Winners Meet

for surfers ear. Santa Cruz Douglas Hetzler has developed surgical
techniques for surfers ear. For more information on the diagnosis and
treatment of surfers ear

SCHEDULE BY MONTH
We have a new schedule by month that is on line. Thanks to Caroline
Lambert for putting the effort in to create the calendar.

http://www.pacificmasters.org/comp/schedulemonth.html

SWIMMING ANATOMY
Coach Cokie Lepinski of the Marin Pirates Masters group highly
recommends Ian McLeod's new book "Swimming Anatomy." Swimming Anatomy
provides a stunning visual perspective on swimmers' muscles and how
they are developed. The full-color interior contains over 200
expertly drawn illustrations and anatomically grouped exercises with
icons identifying the strokes that will benefit most from each
exercise to make you faster in the water. The book is somewhat
technical and be sure you are up on your name of muscles and bones
before purchasing the book (or start studying).

It is available at Amazon:
http://tinyurl.com/yf5ggvo or
http://preview.tinyurl.com/yf5ggvo
and it is available at Borders (I bought my copy there with a 30%
discount - join the Borders Club) and it is available at other book
stores.

NO MORE PMS
Well not that kind. The Pacific Masters Committee decided to stop
referring to our Local Swimming Masters Committee by its initials at
the September meeting. (too many bad jokes - and if you want to hear
them ask our new Officer at large - Jody Smith). The committee voted
to use Pacific and PacMasters as an alias for Pacific Masters
Swimming.

H2OPEN
U.S. Masters Swimming will introduce its newest open water initiative
in 2010: H2Open Series.

The H2Open Series will include four events in 2010 and use its reach
to increase the awareness and participation in open water events
across the country. According to U.S. Masters Swimming Executive
Director, Rob Butcher, "While the H2Open Series events will be
competitive, they will also offer companion clinic opportunities
intended to cater to the novice or fitness open water enthusiasts."

The events in the inaugural H2Open Series will include Lake Berryessa.

RICK POWERS - FORMER DAVIS COACH - WRITES NEW BOOK
Rick Powers, former coach of Davis Aquatic Masters, tells his story.
During a coaching career that spans forty-two years in eleven
countries and includes the national teams of six countries, Powers
often came into conflict with the politicians who make and break the
rules in the swimming world. What transpired behind the scenes in
many countries might leave readers shaking their heads. Powers' story
illuminates a side of competitive swimming that most people wouldn't
imagine exists. Swimming from A-Z is also a travel guide and a
personal adventure that circles the globe.

PublishAmerica.com is offering you an opportunity to secure your
personal copy of Rick Powers's exceptional book today. Please click
