PACIFIC MASTERS MISSION STATEMENT
As adopted by the Pacific Masters Committee the Mission of Pacific Masters is:

Pacific Masters Swimming welcomes anyone who would like to gain and maintain fitness through swimming and encourages programs to foster this mission.

Lake Sonoma Swim
The Lake Sonoma swim A fun swim. There’s a long and windy road to get there. The location feels like it is the middle of nowhere. You can enter on-line. The pre-entry deadline is 24 June

Pacific Masters Long Course Championships
The 2010 Pacific Masters Long Course Championships will again return to UC Santa Cruz. The long course pool was replastered and is now in tip-top condition. The meet is 9-11 July 2010 at the East Field house pool at UC Santa Cruz


Open Water 101
An open water clinic for novices. Want to swim open water, but not sure what to do? Concerned about cold water, crowded starts, open water “culture”?
This Open Water 101 is a way to get started. Taught by local/national/international open water swimmers. Dryland talk by Suzanne Heim-Bowen. In water drills, optional course swim. Lake Berryessa Preliminary Results
The preliminary results of the Lake Berryessa One and Two Mile swim have been posted on the Pacific Masters web site. Thanks to The Davis Aquatic Masters for organizing the 29th running of this annual event. This years swim was part of the US Masters Swimming H2Open Open Water Series - a series of premier open water events organized through out the country. The Berryessa swim was the only series swim in the western United States.

PacMasters Calendar
The PacMasters Calendar is now in a calendar format (Monday to Sunday). It has the meet deadlines as well as the dates of the meets themselves. Thanks to Caroline Lamber who created the calendar.

US Masters Swimming Summer Championships (Long Course)
The US Masters Swimming Summer Championships (Long Course) will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico 9-12 August (Monday- Thursday). The pool is a very fast ten lane by 50 meter pool with a diving tank for warm up. This will be a great place for a vacation - to see old San Juan or relax on the beach.

Bob Strand and Rich Abrahams Supper Session - Note Day of week (change)
Rich Abrahams and Bob Strand are putting a a super session that will concentrate on the "preparation and execution" of your prime race objective. It will feature pool reace work, starts and turns with video and dry land session. It will be Sunday 18th July 2010 at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, Pasadena, California. For further information contact Bob Strand at r1strand at aol.com . Between Bob and Rich, they have set over 100 Masters World Records and 150 National Records.

2012 NATIONAL LONG DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The US Masters Swimming Open Water championships rotate throughout the United States. This year Pacific is honored to host the 1-3 Mile Championships at Lake Del Valle. In 2012, the western region is eligible to bid for two mile cable swim and the greater than six mile championships. The Long Distance Committee is accepting bids for the both of those events through 1 August. 2010 Swim Across America
The Bay Swim is an SAA favorite - swimming under the Golden Gate Bridge is unbeatable and swimmers come from all over the country to participate. Expect to see recreational and competetive swimmers as well as a few Olympians. This years open water swim will take place September 25th, 2010 in the San Francisco Bay. Sign up for this fun 1.5 mile (or .5 mile) swim from the Golden Gate Bridge to Crissy Field Beach.Join them this 2010 in the Bay, or by starting a pool swim in the SF area.wim Across America, Inc., [SAA] is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming - related events.

TIBURON MILE
Registration is open for the Tiburon Mile which will be held on 17 October. The swim is one nautical mile from Angel Island to the shores of downtown Tiburon. In addition to the race that weekend there will also be The Olympic Gold Medal Swim Clinic with Josh Davis, 2000 Olympic Team Captain, on Saturday, Oct. 16th from 9-11 am at the College of Marin pool. There will also be the Sprint Classic which will featureRyan Lochte, Cesar Cielo, Matt Grevers, Nathan Adrian, Ben Wildman-Tobriner, Garret Weber-Gale and Fred Bousquet who will compete for a $10,000 1st prize. Go the Distance
Linda Schoenberger wrote an article about Go the Distance on the USMS Web site. Go the Distance is a great way to track your workout. Doing that is a way to see your improvement over the year and it is free for US Masters Swimmers members.
