US Masters Swimming Summer Championships (Long Course) - Deadline Thursday
The US Masters Swimming Summer Championships (Long Course) will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico 9-12 August (Monday- Thursday). The pool is a very fast ten lane by 50 meter pool with a diving tank for warm up. This will be a great place for a vacation - to see old San Juan or relax on the beach.

Pacific Master Swimmer Rich Burns Names to International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame
Rich Burns of Tamalpias Aquatic Masters has been named to the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame. Rich has been the Male Pacific Masters Swimmer of the year for the past three years. Rich has set many, many Pacific Masters records and many FINA World Records. Congratulations to Rich!!!

Also named to the Hall were Bonnie Pronke, Barry Young, Louise Kivi Kockman, John Conner and Andy Burke. Andy was named as a water polo nominee. Andy is a member of the Olympic Club and was the chairman of the Water Polo competition at the FINA World Masters Championships that were held at Stanford.

The nominees will be inducted at the US Aquatic Sports Championships convention, Dallas, Tx in September. Congratulations all.

Pacific Masters Long Course Championships -
Joel Wilson sent along the following:
Santa Cruz Masters and the Office of Physical Education and Recreation welcome all participants and spectators to the PMS Long Course Champs on July 9-11. We would like to provide you with information regarding parking during this weekend.

On Friday, July 9th, parking in the East Remote lot is recommended. Parking attendants will be specially placed in this lot from 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. to sell you a parking permit ($4). You must display this permit in your car when you park. If you arrive on campus after 10:30 a.m. you must get your permit at the kiosk at the entrance to campus. Parking in the lot above the pool is not recommended on Friday. Parking meters and permit parking in this lot will be strictly monitored on Friday.

On Saturday and Sunday, there are no parking restrictions for the lot above the pool or the East Remote lot. You may park in appropriate parking stalls all day.

Open Water 101
An open water clinic for novices. Want to swim open water, but not sure what to do? Concerned about cold water, crowded starts, open water “culture”?
This Open Water 101 is a way to get started. Taught by local/national/international open water swimmers. Dryland talk by Suzanne Heim-Bowen. In water drills, optional course swim. Catfish Crawl - 25 July 2010
The Catfish Crawl Open Water Swim will be held at the scenic UVAS Reservoir, Morgan Hill, California. This is the new race to the Pacific Masters Schedule and is in pretty place in the south bay.

Russian River Challenge
The Russian River Challenge held at Healdsburg on Saturday 24 July. There is a 500 yard and one Mile race.

The one Mile Santa Cruz Rough Water swim will be held on Saturday 31 July. The preentry postmark deadline is Monday 19 July 2010.

ALAMEDA AQUATIC MASTERS LOOKING FOR COACH
Alameda Aquatic Masters (AAM) has an opening for Head Coach. This position will be responsible for coaching 11 workouts per week. Duties include designing swim workouts for varying levels of swimmer ability and interest and providing up-to-date coaching techniques and instruction to team members. There is a minor amount of administrative work. The Head Coach is supported by the AAM Board of Directors. We are looking for an individual who is energetic, motivated, organized, and can communicate effectively with adult recreational and competitive swimmers.
