USMS CHAMPIONSHIPS
United States Masters Swimming Long Course Meters Championships were 
held last weekend in Federal Way, Washington. Many Pacific Masters 
swimmers distinguished themselves. Chief among, setting World and 
National records are Laura Val (6W 6N), Ann Hirsch (1W 3N), Robert 
Strand (1W 2N), Stuart Corliss (1W 1N), Suzanne Heim-Bowen (1W 1N), 
and Patty Landers (1W 1N). The Tamalpias Women 200-219 sent a world 
record, Walnut Creek men 240-259 set a world record and Walnut Creek 
men 280-319 set a world record. Details at the end of the update.

There was great swimming in the Federal Way pool. Swiminfo has detail 
of many of the races and USMS web site has the individual results.

MANATEE LAKE DEL VALLE 2 X 1 MILE
The results of the Manatee Lake Del Valle 2 x 1 mile relay have been 
posted on the Pacific Masters web site.

PINECREST OPEN WATER SWIM
Pinecrest Lake Open water swim is this Saturday August 25th at 
Pinecrest Lake (east of Sonora)

PACIFIC MASTERS MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of Pacific Masters Swimming will be Wednesday, 
August 29th at 7:30 pm at the Oakhill Park Community Center in 
Danville. Usually at the August meeting Pacific Masters Championships 
for the next year and USMS legislative proposals are considered.

Lands End

Pacific Masters entered into a new affiliate relationship with Lands' 
End Apparel . Lands' End is a maker of fine sports apparel for the 
active person.

SCHEDULING FOR NEXT YEAR
Marcia Benjamin has sent out to each club the forms to get on the 
Pacific Masters schedule. If you did not receive a set of forms

thinking about scheduling a meet, but have not put one on before or 
it is not on the current schedule, contact either Barry Fasbender for 
pool meets mailto:fasbenderb at aol.com or Jim Wheeler 
mailto:jwheeler at sanselmo.org for open water meets. Both can tell you 
about what is needed to put on a meet and give you the "inside" 
information.

COACH MIDNIGHT
Coach Midnight was out walking Mumford, his Irish wolfhound, when I 
called to get his weekly column. His column should return by next 
week (assuming Mumford wishes to return to the house - really large 
dog).
