FROM THE DESK OF Coach Midnight
THE POWER OF MENTAL VISUALIZATION
We all know how effective it is to use mental visualization or
'rehearsal' to enhance our performances -- both in training and
competition --- so I am going to suggest using that style of
training in another way.
Rather that 'float' through your flip turns in your practices; rather
than use them as 'mini' rest pauses -- imagine the face of a certain
known Terrorist imprinted on the wall at every turn.
NOW --- AT EVERY SINGLE TURN I WANT YOU TO POUR ALL YOUR ENERGY INTO
REALLY ATTACKING THE WALL. EACH TURN I WANT YOU TO THINK: "BAMM....
NAILED ANOTHER ONE". AND DONT LET UP UNTIL YOU HAVE NAILED EVERY
"ONE".

SCHEDULING FOR NEXT YEAR
MEETS IN JANUARY
If you are planing to have a meet in January, it is important that
the meet director get the information to Barry Fasbender and Marcia
Benjamin so that your meet can be listed in Swim Magazine.
Marcia Benjamin has sent out to each club the forms to get on the
Pacific Masters schedule. If you did not receive a set of forms
please contact Marcia mailto: msbenjamin at earthlink.net . If you are
thinking about scheduling a meet, but have not put one on before or
it is not on the current schedule, contact either Barry Fasbender for
pool meets mailto:fasbenderb at aol.com or Jim Wheeler
mailto:jwheeler at sanselmo.org for open water meets. Both can tell you
about what is needed to put on a meet and give you the "inside"
information.

OFF THE WALL
Saturday, the mid point of the solar disk passed the plane of the
equator on the sun's northern journey - It was the beginning of
Autumn. Autumn was always the beginning of the new school year, a
new chance to do better this year than in the last and a clean
slate. In the Bay Area, September has the best weather of the year.
For swimming, the short course meters season is just starting. The
short course meters championship has always been a fun meet. It is
usually the least competitive of the three courses. The serious
competitors are there, but the meet has always been understated, if a
swim meet can be understated.
Last Monday/Tuesday was Rosh HaShana, the start of the Jewish new
year. Happy New Year 5762.
September 27 is Yom Kippur, the day of Atonement.
This year the date of the Moon Festival, celebrated by many Asian
cultures is October 1. If you get a chance to have a moon cake, try
it. Most people enjoy it. It is a seasonal delight.
October 2nd is the Harvest Moon. The Harvest Moon is the full moon
that is closest to the Autumnal Equinox. For farmers, the Harvest
Moon gave them extra time to harvest their crops. The next full moon
is the hunters moon.
