PACIFIC MASTERS MISSION STATEMENT:
As adopted by the Pacific Masters Committee the Mission of Pacific Masters is:

Pacific Masters Swimming welcomes anyone who would like to gain and
maintain fitness through swimming and encourages programs to foster
this mission.

PACIFIC MASTERS MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of Pacific Masters Swimming will be held at
Heather Farms, Walnut Creek California. All members are invited to
attend and all teams are asked to send a representative to the
meeting.

SERVICE AWARD NOMINATIONS
At this month's meeting, we will be choosing the swimmers of the
year. We will also be nominating and choosing the Contributor of the
Year, the Appreciation Award recipient, the Distinguished Service
award and the recipient of the Personal Achievement Award.

Contributor of the Year Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding contributions to Masters
Swimming during the calendar year preceding the year in which the
award is presented.

Personal Achievement Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize long term dedication to
our program and reward noticeable improvement in one's own skills and
times

Distinguished Service Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding contributions
to Pacific Masters Swimming.

Appreciation Award
The purpose of this award is to express special thanks to individuals
or groups who have made significant contributions to PMS.

Any Pacific Masters swimmer may nominate a person or club for these
awards. Please send you nomination to either Michael Moore

RINCONADA MASTERS SPRING SCY MEET RESULTS
The Rinconada Masters Spring Short Course results have been posted.
Thanks to Jim Shaw, Carol MacPherson and the Rinconada Masters Team
for puttong on the meet.

The Santa Clara University Swim Club had many swimmers represented at
the meet. This was the first Masters Meet for many of the swimmers.

SCAM Spring Break Meet
The Strawberry Canyon Aquatic Masters Spring Break meet will be on 21
March 2009 at the Spieker Aquatic Complex, UC Berkeley. The first
event - the 500 free- is pre-seeded. you can enter on line at

PACIFIC MASTERS SHORT COURSE YARDS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2009 Pacific Masters Short Course Yards Championships will be
held April 17-19 at the Dolores Bengston Aquatic Center in
Pleasanton. Swimmers can enter on line at:

CHANGES IN SCHEDULE.
PARKSIDE MILE
The Parkside Mile has moved to 25 April, same place, but had to
change the date.

SPRING LAKE MILE
The Spring Lake Mile has been moved to the 16th Of May. It is a week
earlier than what has been on the schedule.

2009 PACIFIC MASTERS LONG COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Chabot Swim team have graciously offered to organize the 2009
Pacific Masters Long Course Championships. The championships will be
held at Chabot College in Hayward 10-12 July 2009.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TEACHING ADULTS TO SWIM

US MASTERS SWIMMING 2009 SHORT COURSE MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2009 US Masters Swimming Short Course Masters National
Championships will be held at the Clovis North High School Pool,
Clovis, CA. The online entry system will automatically close at 11:59
p.m. Pacific time on April 9, 2009.

FINA REQUIREMENTS FOR SWIMWARE
FINA the international governing body has released its requirements
for swimwear. The main points are
The swimsuit shall not cover the neck and shall not extend
past the shoulders nor past the ankles.
All swimsuits of an approved model must be constructed in an
identical fashion with no variation/modification for individual
swimmers.
The swimmer can only wear one swimsuit

APPLICATION TO OFFICIATE AT THE US MASTERS SWIMMING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
An application to officiate at the US Masters Championships is at

An application is needed if you wish to work an assigned position
(deck ref, starter, chief judge). Officials can apply for their N2,
N3 certification.

SWIMFEST 09
US MASTERS SWIMMING will be sponsoring SwimFest 09 for coaches and
swimmers at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, TX (near Houston). For
coaches it will be a chance to work with some of the greatest coaches
in Masters Swimming: Kerry O'Brien, Kris Houchesn, Mike Collins and
Jim Montogmery. They will work with coaches on their coaching
technique and mentor The Masters coaches ill cover the business of
being a Masters Coach and other topics.

Swimmers will be able to improve their swimming and work on all four
strokes, starts and turns under the guidance of great coaches.

U.S. Masters Swimming will be awarding a limited number of coach
scholarships. If you are a Masters coach and need financial
assistance to attend, please contact Mel Goldstein, Director of Club
& Coach Services via email or by phone at 317-253-8289.

Coaches are free
Swimmers are $85.

INDIVIDUAL RENEWAL
You can now renew your membership for 2009. You can register on line,
it is very easy, just go to:
https://www.ClubAssistant.com/club/USMS.cfm?l=38
and start filling out the forms. If you are a member of the clubs
listed below you can register with your club.

If your club is not one of the clubs listed above, you will have to
register as "unattached." And then when your club registers you can
change membership.

For those who do no want to register on-line, Pacific Masters still
has a paper registration form to send to Nancy.
