UPCOMING EVENTS:
LONG COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Pacific Masters Long Course Meters Championships are being held 
this upcoming weekend at the University of California Santa Cruz. It 
is too late to register to swim, but not too late to go there and 
cheer for your team mates and see good swimming (Timers are always 
appreciated and you get a great view of the swimming).

The main part of the Open Water Swim season is coming up. Meet

USMS NATIONALS
The USMS Long Course Nationals are being held in Cleveland in August. 
The on-line deadline is July 12. If you plan on going now is the time 
to send your entry.

BILL EARLEY  1936-2002
Masters Swimming runs because of its volunteers. There are hundreds 
of volunteers who work for Masters Swimming and make a difference. 
Bill Earley, of San Diego-Imperial LMSC, was one of those volunteers. 
He was swimming the Colorando Rough Water Swim on July 4th, when he 
suffered a heart attack and died. Masters swimming will miss Bill. He

DATA BASE PROGRAMMER
US Masters Swimming is in the process of establishing its data base 
needs. There is a national data base committee that is looking into 
the needs of USMS to see what is needed then how to fill those needs. 
If  you are familiar with databases and would like to contribute your 
time and knowledge please contact Hugh Moore at  weswim at mindspring.com

PEDRO ODENES SE ROWING CLUB
Tuesday I received an email from Pedro Odenes who is leading a group 
from South End Rowing Club in swimming the English Channel. So far 
the weather has been bad - winds blowing 35 mph. Hope they make it.
