LONG COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Pacific Masters Long Course Meters Championships were held this
upcoming weekend at the University of California Santa Cruz. This was
one of the largest long course meters Pacific Masters Championships -
465 swimmers registered. over 2000 splashes. The meet ended after 5
pm on all three days, and this was after each of the three distance
events was swum two to a lane.
Laura Val, still not getting the memo about getting slower as you get
older, become the first woman over 45 to break 10 minutes in the 800
freestyle and she negatively split it. She also took back the 400 IM
record from former team mate Danielle Ogier.

If you want to swim the Santa Cruz open water swims the first weekend
in August, the pre-entry entries are due this week
TRANS TAHOE:
Scott Williams, the director of the Trans Tahoe relay, reports that
there are over 100 teams signed up to swim across the lake. Because
of the number of entries, the Coast Guard is looking more closely at
the meet. A Coast Guard representative will be at the MANDITORY
captains meets.
The main part of the Open Water Swim season is coming up. Meet

SOUTH PACIFIC LCM CHAMPIONSHIPS
For those planning to enter the South West Zone LCM Championships at
UC Irvine, you will find links to the entry information, consolidated
entry card, hotel information and a secured site for on-line hotel
reservations at

page will also later have the links to the "psych" sheets, estimated
timeline, and daily results as each becomes available.
For those who plan to stay overnight in the area, UCI Masters has
arranged for a block of rooms to be offered at a discounted rate at
the Country Inn & Suites by Ayres, near the Orange County Airport,
about 7 minutes from the pool. However, the discounted rate is only
guaranteed through this Friday,
July 19, so make your reservations now, even if you are not fully
committed to entering the meet.
PACIFIC MASTERS MONTHLY MEETING
The Pacific Masters Swimming May monthly meet will be Wednesday,
July 24 at the Oak Hill Park Community Center in Danville. All
members are welcome to attend.

PEDRO ODENES SE ROWING CLUB
July 6, the team from the Sunrisers, South End Rowing CLub, crossed
the English Channel with a time of 13:03 hrs from Shakespeare Beach
to the beaches of France. Congratulations

UPDATE GOES TRAVELING
I will going on fact finding mission starting on Thursday. I am not
sure how much Internet access I will have so the Update may be on
hiatus. (but then again, if there is Internet connection you might
find out more about swimming in other lands).
