SWIM ACROSS AMERICA
On Saturday September 25, 2010 Swim Across America held it's 5th annual San Francisco Bay 1.5 mile Bay Swim. It was a record breaking event in every way. Over 150 swimmers, many of whom are members of Pacific Masters Swimming, raised over $300,000 to fight childhood cancer (donations will be accepted through December 1st. http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/Page.aspx?pid=560 ) The beneficiaries are Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. It was an incredible swim; while most swimmers swam the 1.5 mile course from mid-span of the Golden Gate Bridge to Crissy Field some swimmers swam did a 1/2 mile course. The water was the calmest it had been in years and the air was warm. It was an absolutely perfect day! Please join the SAA next year as a swimmer, volunteer, kayaker or donor as we continue to make waves to fight cancer!
